For battery plastic recycling, there is another plastic recycling unit within the same Industrial area
It all starts with collecting used batteries. Our staff collects batteries from various suppliers and stores them in our secure storage yard.
The different types of batteries that we process in our factory:
- PP (Polypropylene Batteries)
- HR (High Resistance batteries)
- Automobile batteries
- Tower Batteries
After collection, the batteries are taken to our state-of-the-art recycling plant, where the transformational process begins. Our facility can handle more than 550 MT of used batteries per month for recycling.
In general, one battery consists of the following components: 80% lead, 2.5% terminal, Separator 1.5%, Plastic 7.5% and remaining 8% is mixture of Acid and Moisture.
The Batteries are cut and the lead is extracted and separated from other component.
The lead is conveyed into the Rotary Furnace to be melted, ensuring the purity of the material. Lead billets are formed in this process. The billets are then refined in the refining pot, obtaining pure lead at 99.97%.
The factory can make more than 300 MT of pure lead per month.
The plant has a dedicated Air Pollution Control system consisting of Dust Collector, Cyclone, Cooling Tower, bag House, Wet Scrubber, Water Tank and Chimney. Acid neutralization tank is used for disposal of any Acid element of the battery.
It is a zero discharge plant which means there is no waste discharged into the environment.
Once, pure lead billets are ready in the battery recycling plant, they are sent to Anode Manufacturing plant for manufacturing of new anode plates. The Plastic cover of the batteries are sent to plastic recycling facility.
Anodos Africa’s facility has capacity to produce 50,000 pieces of newly built Anodes Plates per year. It also serves mining clients by providing refurbishment services for damaged anode plates.
The lead billets coming from battery Recycling plant is poured in the cattle and melted.
We also use scrap lead Anode Plates collected from mines as raw material. After initial cleaning, the scrap lead is poured in the cattle and melted.
Molten lead is then slab casted and conveyed on the hot rolling machine and cold rolling machine to reduce the thickness. The plate is then cut on the eccentric machine as per customer defined dimensions and then levelled using rollers.
Copper Hanger bars are manufactured in same facility with the same precision and quality.
Based on client’s requirement, copper hanger bars of different dimensions are produced.
The copper hanger bars are deoxidized, coated with an alloy and moulded as per customer specification.
After Quality Inspection and Approval, the hanger bars are prepared to be welded with Anode Plates.
The hanger bar and the anode plate are assembled together to give a well finished anode plate, ready to be used.
